Life & Health Insolvencies

What happens during a Life & Health Insolvency?

Upon liquidation, receivers send written communication to all in-force policy and contract holders with information about the liquidation including policy transfers and contact information.

Policy and claim data is directly transferred the Security Fund on policies for which we will be providing coverage.

Upon receipt of the data and information, the Security Fund sends letters of introduction to policyholders.

For policyholders with a life or comprehensive health policy and/or an annuity contract that is a Guaranteed Renewable or Non-cancellable Policy, coverage can be continued by the Security Fund only for policies in-force on liquidation date. Do not terminate your policy during your insurer’s rehabilitation. Continue paying premiums during the rehabilitation phase to be eligible to receive future benefits.

The Security Fund continues eligible in-force policy coverage transmitted to it by the receiver, subject to limitations of the law. The Security Fund does this by collecting premium payments, and making claims coverage payments.
